More Counter Space

We live in a home that is probably one of the worst designs I have ever seen. Its is called a Bi-Level. For those of you not familiar with this style of architecture it is great in square footage but its like a split level with more stairs. It has bedrooms on both floors a kitchen on the second floor..laundry room and familly room downstairs.....I must travel those stairs a hundred times a day. Most people make the upstairs a living room off the kitchen but we decided that wasn't gonna work for this large family. So on the kitchen side of the second floor we have a dining/living room as well. It is a work in progress. I can't wait to hang the pictures and old windows I bought while antiquing. I covered my dining chairs too (not pictured). Plus I LOVE my new huge fridge and freezer!

Slipcovers Are Not Easy To Make!

Here is the first attempt at a slipcover for a chair. The fabric was free, two old tablecloths. I still have to figure out how to sew the zipper into the cushion cover??? Any suggestions from you all would be welcome. I think I may use velcro. I think Kelsey really likes it.

"If You Build It"

Well we finally got rid of that old table and built a new one. My Hubby and I and a couple of our kids went Antiquing in Red Bank a few months ago and we found this great old door and a machine shop table base and we built our own table. I love it. The only thing I would do differently is either a pedestal or four legs. Its a little awkward with six chairs and the base we chose. The door is great it has hinge holes and a slot where the old latch was and it is made of tongue and groove.FAB! We painted it a light greenish blue and then sanded and sealed it.Very Cottage Chic!
